Think for a moment where this nation would be
If not for the Veterans who fought land, air and sea
Think of the many who currently serve
At home and in faraway places for peace and safety to preserve

Think of those warriors who stand ready for call
With a few hours notice ready to give their all
Their homes and families they leave in our care
To travel and serve where others only dare

What do they seek in return for the service they render
Only that our safety and freedom we do not surrender
So let us take pause on the eleventh of November
To honor our Veterans and vow to always remember

Our Veterans are a testament to the greatness of this nation
And for their sacrifices deserve our honor and acclamation
So for those who have served and for those who serve today
My hats off, I salute you and offer a big hooray.

November 2010

I dedicate this poem to those Veterans who have served and those who are currently serving this country. Thank you for your sacrifices and service to our country. A special thanks also to the families of these brave men and women who share in the sacrifice and offer needed support. You are Patriots of the highest order.
