John Sutherland "is a Senior Analyst for the United States Department of Defense. Previously he served in the United States Army and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. He is Airborne, Ranger, and Pathfinder qualified; a graduate of the Command and General Staff College, and received a Masters of Military Arts and Sciences from the School of Advanced Military Studies. His civilian education includes a bachelors degree in business from Northern Arizona University and a Masters in Information Management from Webster University.

 

John served two combat tours in Iraq; first as an infantry company commander during Operation Desert Storm and then as a combat planner for the Coalition Land Component Command during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He also served as Chief of Plans and Deputy Operations Officer for the 2nd Infantry Division in the Republic of Korea. Johns military service has taken him to South America, East and West Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. John works as a senior Operational Analyst for the Joint and Coalition Operational Analysis Division in the Joint Staff."
