Albert Nathaniel Drake
enlisted in the US Army during World War Two and served four years. He is a retired business executive
and author. Albert Nathaniel Drake is the author of Washington State Winemakers: Nature Produces
and People Create; POSSIBILITIES: Good People Seeking Solutions; and Wine and You. He is
also the editor of Fast and Loose in Dixie: A Civil War Adventure by J. Madison Drake, 1880. According to the book description of Washington
State Winemakers: Nature Produces and People Create, “Washington State Winemakers is a way to know the
allure of Washington State and its magnificent wines. Millions of years ago volcanoes and massive floods sculpted the State
land and left in multiple areas unique soils for vineyards. The warmth of summer days and cool nights each year brings the
grapes to fine ripeness.
The author wrote about California wine
country in 1970. He also has been an owner of a vineyard, a home winemaker, and an organizer of wine education tasting parties.
He now brings to wine lovers and curious novices the stories of Washington Wine Quality Alliance members. The State wineries
are small, medium, and large and each is special in their selection of grapes and ways of creating wine. Enterprising spirit
is expressed in stories about their wineries in the book. The vintners interpret Nature’s work in various ways to satisfy
many different palates.”
