During those years Dave received a number of commendations including the,
Directors Award, the Distinguished Service Medal for valor, eight special
act/service awards, and several letters of appreciation and on the spot awards.
Dave worked numerous national and international events, to include Republican
and Democrat National Conventions, NATO 50th Anniversary, a Middle East Peace
Summit, a United Nations General Assembly meeting, two Olympic Games one in
Atlanta 1996 and the other in Greece in 2004, a National Boy Scout Jamboree,
NASCAR Raceway security and many other interesting events. In addition, Dave's
biography was read on the Senate floor in 2009 where U.S. Senator Kaufman
compared him to Caesar Rodney.
Dave received extensive IED, WMD, Command and Control training during his career
with ATF. His training led Dave to some remarkable situations and positions.
He was a member of ATFs Special Response Team, as well as the National Response
Team, he was also a Hazmat Tec and he held the position of a Tactical Operations
Officer. Dave also revitalized the local chapter for the Federal Law
Enforcement Officers Association in Delaware becoming its chapter president, and
later becoming Agency President representing all ATF agents nationwide. David
